Nigeria launches startup portal, sparking massive response

Nigeria’s minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani revealed the news of the Nigeria Start-up House this week.

Thousands of entrepreneurs have registered with the Nigeria Startup Portal, which provides access to legal services, and business opportunities.

Dr. Bosun Tijani, minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, stated on Monday launched the portal, which he said will boost the Nigerian startup scene.

The National Information Technology Development Agency announced that 12 948 businesses, 912 venture capitalists, 1,735 angel investors, and 925 accelerators, incubators, and hubs have already registered.

The portal is part of the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA 2022), which aims to promote the growth of businesses and technology talent in Africa's largest economy.

Tijani stated that the platform will also provide a consultative resources where issues concerning startups could be addressed.

“We will be prioritising the objectives of the Startup Act to improve the operating environment, prospects and opportunities for our startup ecosystem,” he said.
