Game on for Africa as MTN, Gameloft unite

Gameloft Business Solutions has partnered with MTN to launch MTN Arcade as a one-stop-shop for everything mobile gaming.

The subscription-based gaming platform’s offer comprises 800 handpicked premium mobile games including Asphalt Nitro, NOVA Legacy, PAC-MAN and Sonic Runners Adventure.

It allows for in-game e-sport events with its unique leader-board module as well as regular promotions and game-centred competitions.

“It is the most complete and curated mobile gaming offer and is the result of 20 years of experience in mobile gaming for Gameloft, and of a relationship between MTN and Gameloft spanning over close to a decade,” said Hervé Delabrousse, Managing Director for Gameloft Africa. “It’s all the fun, for everyone, in one single place.”

Available to all MTN customers in South Africa, the platform is available for a fixed R3 daily subscription fee.

The expertise in the mobile ecosystem led MTN to entrust Gameloft with the subscription offer management according to Ernst Fonternel, Chief Digital Officer at MTN South Africa, who added that the subscription-based business models are increasingly trending in the market.

Gameloft’s customised gaming packages and subscription-based offers extend to 150 countries covering all channels with global distribution partners such as Vodafone, Orange, and others.

The subscription-based model is likely to work with users in South Africa for two key reasons, said Delabrousse.

“Subscription based services have become the norm in the digital world and users are now used to those offers (Netflix, Showmax, Spotify etc). “It allows for unlimited access to content and unlimited playtime of the best premium mobile games at the most affordable price.”

He added that the subscription and opt out paths are varied and transparent on the platform seeks to enable users to immerse themselves in mobile gaming.

Access to MTN Arcade is available for both Android and iOS users from the mobi-site and on the MTN Arcade application for Android users.
