Maroc Telecoms rebrands subsidiaries as Moov Africa

Subsidiaries belonging to Moroccan telecommunications group, Maroc Telecom, have been rebranded as Moov Africa.

In Burkina Faso, ONATEL-SA has become Moov Africa Burkina Faso. Since December 2006, Maroc Telecom has held a controlling stake (61%) which empowered it to change the name of the company to Moov Burkina Faso, effective from 1 January 2021.

Maroc Telecom added that the rebranding enables it to provide better visibility for its expanding franchise across Africa and adapt to changes in the digital economy ecosystem and meet customer expectations.

The change is applied to 11 African countries which encompasses Maroc Telecom’s footprint.

The company affirmed that ONATEL-SA, Gabon Telecom, MAURITEL, Moov Bénin, Moov Centrafrique, Moov Côte d'Ivoire, Moov Niger, Moov Togo, SOTELMA-Mali, TIGO-Tchad will now operate under the new commercial brand Moov Africa , in order to benefit from the group's synergy.

Managing Director Sidi Mohamed Naimi said, “They are Moov Africa - to signify a single graphic sign, all the strength of a group and Maroc Telecom's commitment to put its expertise at the service of each of its subsidiaries. Evolving under a single brand means being enriched by differences, exchanging experiences and expertise to strengthen skills.”

Moreover, in Gabon, where Maroc Telecom has operated since 2007, Gabon Telecom SA has been changed to Moov Africa Gabon Telecom.

“The new Moov Africa brand identity of the Maroc Telecom Group marks a further step in the international development of the Maroc Telecom Group, and thus reaffirms the unequivocal commitment of the Maroc Telecom Group alongside Gabon to offer the best products and services to its customers,” the Group stated.

In the Benin republic, Oumar Nahli, CEO of Moov Africa Benin confirmed the Group will engage with subscribers across various African markets regarding the new identity and how it aligns with the broad visions of the Group across the continent.
