Central Africa’s video game studio, Kiro’o Games has rolled out its first-ever mobile game, marking its entry into Africa’s mobile game market.

The game, ‘Le Responsable Mboa’ is available on Google Playstore on Early Access mode and has been downloaded over 3,300 times since its release a week ago.

Honla Eveline, Lead Marketing & Communication of Kiro’o Games, said the released version on ‘Le Responsible Mboa’ is just 5% of the final product. The studio plans to release the full version by March 2021 which it will monetise.

According to Eveline, Kiro’o Games is keen on a business model which will leverage micro-transactions on mobile money across Africa. “Kiro’o Games’ ambition is to offer lots of exclusive content to gamers who want to make their adventure more complete.”

She said the mobile game has the potential to generate 100,000 micro transactions per week of 100 CFA francs each at maturity - an equivalent of 10 million CFA francs in turnover per week.

Initially, considering that the new mobile game is still only in French language, Kiro’o Games will target mobile gamers using mobile money in Francophone Africa, specifically those in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Guinea Conakry and Benin.

The game is in the process of being translated into English.

The release is a milestone for the tech firm which is trying to take advantage of the fast-growing African smartphone market through mobile phone games and applications, switching from PC.

In gestation since 2018, ‘Le Responsable Mboa’, which is a satirical African game, gives young gamers the opportunity to live the temptations and consequences of societal problems such as corruption, management of modern marriages, etc.

The key protagonist is an official in an imaginary African country known as Mboa.

Yakan Dominique, Lead Designer and Cofounder at Kiro’o Games said they produced three different versions of the game before settling on the final one which was deemed satisfactory.

Kiro’o Games has been able to launch its African-themed role-playing games as a result of 190 million CFA francs it raised after opening its capital to the public worldwide on 10 April 2019.
