Johannesburg announced as Infobip's hub

South African HQ to become the permanent centre of operations in the wider region

Infobip, a global provider of mobile messaging and payments, today announced that the expansion of its operations into the Southern African Development Community region will be coordinated and supported from Infobip's South African headquarters in Johannesburg, which will also become a permanent regional hub. Johannesburg has already grown into Infobip's major recruitment and education centre.

Very soon we expect to have highly capable country managers fully prepared to assume their positions across the SADC. We have concentrated considerable resources in Johannesburg over the last couple of months, setting up internal education structures for an efficient transfer of specialised knowledge of telecoms and enterprises. Reflected in our technologies, solutions, technical support and account management practices, this rich in-house expertise - acquired through our work both in South Africa and globally - will allow us to create tangible benefits for enterprises, MNOs and millions of mobile subscribers in SADC, said Infobip CEO Silvio Kutic.

This announcement was preceded by Infobip's recent launch of an enterprise end-to-end messaging solution, the first of such kind in South Africa. Consisting of locally deployed, in-house developed infrastructure, it enables enterprises to communicate via SMS with end users directly and securely, with no third party intermediaries. In October, the company announced the launch of a network-initiated USSD solution, used for OTP delivery in online banking services.

Based in Croatia and the UK, Infobip has been in the global A2P messaging industry for almost a decade. It has developed one of the world's largest proprietary messaging networks, and a wide range of choices for enterprises and developers to connect to its powerful technology which processes over a billion transactions monthly.

Infobip has had a strong local presence in South Africa since 2010, when the office in Johannesburg was established, together with local technical support, onsite integration teams and customer care structures. Infobip's technology evangelist Marko Skomersic will be speaking at Tech Demo Africa in Johannesburg on June 3, explaining the unique messaging architecture the company has developed in South Africa.
