Nigerian manufacturer Dangote signs ‘mega-deal’ with SAP

Business software firm SAP has signed a multi-million Euro three-year deal with West Africa’s largest manufacturing conglomerate Dangote Group.

Dangote Group, a multi-billion Naira manufacturing facility that operates across Africa and headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, has decided to use SAP’s business software.

In a press statement, SAP says that Dangote Group officially went live with the SAP Business Suite Wednesday 1 August 2012. The offering was implemented by SAP partner KPMG.

The group is the first Nigerian company to have an agreement in Nigeria that covers countries outside of the West African country as well.

SAP says its Business Suite offering enables Dangote to move from a manual-based system to one that is more integrated, automated and provides transparency into its finances.

The exact value of the deal, though, has not been unveiled.

“Dangote has now become the first company in Nigeria to have an agreement that spans across other African countries, like South Africa, Senegal, and Ghana,” says Mike Okwechime, account executive for large enterprises in SAP West Africa.
