Huawei Northern Africa has announced new executive appointments.

Huawei Northern Africa has announced new executive appointments to strengthen management of the region.

The company has appointed Adnane Ben Halima as VP to oversee public relations for the Mediterranean area, while Loïse Tamalgo will serve in the same portfolio but for the Sub-Saharan African region.

Halima joined Huawei Technologies from ST-Microelectronics in 2005. He has overseen the launch of several new 3G, 4G, fixed THD and Cloud platform networks – and telecommunications services providers, across multiple countries.

Halima said major challenges are awaiting the rest of the world that had already been brought to its knees by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic. For the company, Africa is a critical market which is said to be at the heart of Huawei's development strategy for more than two decades.

The Group is part of a long-term approach in Africa and has made significant investments in ICT infrastructure development.

Halima said: “Together we can meet the challenges of digital transformation in Africa and meet the many expectations of our partners.”

Tamalgo has spent nearly 15 years at Huawei.

He said: “This will allow the Group to increase its contribution to digital transformation and, on the other hand, to contribute to a better social distribution of the digital dividend to the populations in the countries that I cover south of the Sahara.”

In a statement, Philippe Wang, Executive Vice-President of Huawei Northern Africa, noted that 75% of Huawei’s employees in Africa are Africans.

“We are very happy to allow two of our employees to take on new responsibilities within our teams. They will continue to provide the best support to our African partners, in the public and private sectors, to further develop the continent's digital ecosystem.”
