Technology distributor Westcon-Comstor Sub-Saharan Africa has appointed Dorio Bowes as commercial director.

In his role, Bowes will be responsible for oversight of the Westcon business unit portfolios, including collaboration and networking, cyber security and Microsoft solutions, and identifying collaborative opportunities across vendor technologies.

According to the company, this includes driving unique solution and value-led services and product offerings that will provide the Westcon channel with a strategic advantage in addressing opportunities for the South Africa and SADC territories.

“Solution selling and value-added services are quintessential to the success of the modern distributor, and I am delighted to welcome Dorio as an executive member to the Westcon team, where he will assist us to further drive our value-added brand, technologies and business offerings in Southern Africa,” says Rakesh Parbhoo, CEO, Westcon-Comstor Sub-Saharan Africa.

“No stranger to Westcon-Comstor, we are looking forward to leveraging his exceptional relationships, understanding of our business and the industry, to further grow and cement our vendor and partner engagements.”

The distributor says prior to his appointment, Bowes worked within the Comstor team in the capacity of sales manager, where he was directly responsible for driving revenue, growing the channel and identifying customer opportunities across the region.

He has also held senior management positions within the South African IT industry at both vendor and distributor businesses where he was directly responsible for sales, product management marketing, business oversight, and revenue optimization, it notes.

The Westcon portfolio is made up of a community of enterprise brands that extend networking, collaboration, cyber security, software and mobility solutions.

According to Bowes, he is looking forward to identifying opportunities across the Westcon business units where he and his team can marry collaborative technologies to build end-to-end solutions to help solve some of the industry's most pressing needs.

This includes the development of strategic channel-focused sales and marketing programmes to support Westcon reseller partners in Southern Africa.

“Westcon is in an excellent position in that we promote, support and sell technology solutions that are often number one in their field,” says Bowes.

“They are technologies that are answering the need for digital transformation, software-as-a-service, security reform and collaboration, amongst modern businesses today. With my exceptional team, winning mix of vendors, skilled partner channel, as well as the innovative digital tools that Westcon-Comstor has developed to support customers, I am looking forward to helping drive revenues and create opportunities for businesses in a world that is now more than ever demanding innovation from the technology organisations use.”
