YooMee launches Ivory Coast’s first LTE network

Swiss based provider of mobile broadband YooMee is launching an LTE network in Ivory Coast.

The company, which has already been operating in markets such as Cameroon, is planning to deploy TD-LTE in Ivory Coast.

YooMee says it uses Alcatel-Lucent equipment to deploy LTE networks.

“I am very proud that the authorities of Côte d’Ivoire have issued to YooMee the necessary permissions and spectrum to build the first LTE network in the country,” said Dov Bar-Gera, chief executive officer of YooMee Africa.

“With this network, West Africa is leapfrogging into a new era of the internet,” said the CEO.

YooMee plans to offer a variety of usage plans that include a USB Key, Mobile WiFi device, and the desktop YooMee Box.

Device prices will vary from $100 to $160, says YooMee.

Meanwhile, 8.5GB data products will be sold at $30. Up to 100GB of data packages are also planned to be sold in the country.
