A Ghanaian technology firm, which is an investor in a project to build Africa’s tallest building, is also planning to open an office in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) city of Dubai.

Eleven-year-old RLG Communications, which is a subsidiary of Agams Holdings, is a Ghanaian company that specialises in the production of communications equipment such as mobile phones, e-book devices, tablets, laptops and LCD TV monitors.
RLG is also a key investor in the construction of a project to build a $10 billion IT hub, which is planned to house Africa’s tallest building, near Ghana’s capital Accra.

The project called ‘Hope City’ is planned to have Africa's tallest building, at a height of 270 metres or 75 stories according to RLG Communications. The tallest building in Africa is currently the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa: the Carlton Centre stands at 222.51 m according to global provider of building information Emporis.

And RLG plans to furthermore become the first Ghanaian company to have an office in Dubai: a city that hosts the world’s tallest building: the Burj Khalifa which stands at 830 metres high.

According to RLG, the office is expected to come online in Dubai next month.

RLG’s presence in the Middle East is futher intended to boost its business in Asian and Middle East markets.

“Dubai is 40 years. Ghana is 50 years. The growth and developmental gap are obvious. Dubai offer lots of lessons Africa can learn,” RLG’s chief executive officer, Roland Agambire, said in a statement on his firm’s website.

“Operating from here will enable us grow our brand and make it more visible as an indigenous African brand,” he added.

RLG operates in China, Nigeria, the Gambia, Kenya and Angola. But Agambire has said that ‘six more countries’ in Africa could join that list before year-end.
