MTN pens deal with Cameroon to digitise public services

MTN has secured a deal with Cameroon's Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, MINFOPRA to enable the government department to bolster its service nationally.

Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms Joseph Le and MTN Cameroon chief executive officer Hendrik Kasteel signed MoU in the capital Yaounde on 13 November 2019.

According to the MoU, MTN Cameroon will develop digital solutions to provide simple, fast and secure means of obtaining information needed by civil servants and other users.

The technologies and expertise provided by MTN Cameroon will allow for the automatic processing of online claims to decongest ministries, improve the information and alert system to better inform users, avoid queues and possible displacements by civil servants from their regions to the political capital of the country.

Minister Le said: "The solutions offered by digital technology are an opportunity to be seized to achieve this goal. We therefore hope that this partnership with MTN Cameroon will enable us to meet our objectives of efficiency, cost reduction and above all satisfaction of civil servants."

Kasteel added, "At MTN Cameroon, we trust we have the infrastructure, expertise, experience and determination required to provide the most appropriate solutions for these needs."

MTN Cameroon provides services to small and medium-sized companies, public and private sector-based companies as well government and non-governmental institutions through the MTN Business Department.
