AccessKenya, Cisco launch cyber security products for Africa

Information Technology companies AccessKenya and Cisco have both announced the launch of security products to benefit users in the region.

AccessKenya has launched Managed Security Services (MSS) which will enable businesses to report manipulated electronic files and give alerts.

“We are introducing MSS as a single vendor solution with access to modules such as automated monitoring, visibility, control and oversight, cost savings, reduced risk of obsolescence, flexibility and security compliance.

"By deploying MSS, hosted on the AccessKenya and Internet Solution cloud, an organisation will be able to free up critical human and financial resources”, said Loren Bosch, the head of managed services at AccessKenya and Internet Solutions.

The company noted that most businesses in Africa do not have the resources of manpower to fight cyber security with the full urgency it needs. Their product will enable businesses to automate their online security checks, the company said.

Meanwhile, Cisco has also launched its Advanced Malware Protection solution aimed at protecting businesses from falling into cyber attacks especially through web, email and cloud services.

“Organisations across the Middle East and Africa must realise that it is no longer if they will be targeted by cyber-attacks, but rather when,” Sabrina Dar, Cisco general manager for East Africa said.

“Chief information security officers face growing pressure to protect terabytes of data on an increasingly porous network, manage information safely especially on the cloud, and evaluate the risks of working with third-party vendors for specialised solutions – all in the wake of shrinking budgets and leaner IT teams,” Dar added.

Through their Cisco 2014 Annual Security Report the company said that most vulnerabilities are being experienced through internet infrastructure rather than devices.
