Senior executives from Oracle met with Egypt's ICT Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Yasser ElKady in Cairo in an effort to maintain a direct line of communication between the government leader and the computer software company in the North African country.

Saleem Haque, the Vice President for Advanced Customer Support Global Delivery at Oracle USA and Oracle Egypt CEO Basil Mubarak, along with several other company representatives, met with ElKady where they briefed him on the company's local achievements and business plans.

A statement from the ICT ministry says the meeting was within the framework of the ICT sector's strategy to export technological services and create a base of specialists in the field of technical support.

"In this context, ElKady referred to the national project adopted by the state and implemented by the MCIT to enable technological calibres in advanced disciplines to serve the strategic projects and enhance the growth of the Egyptian industry," stated the Ministry.

According to the Ministry ElKady said that MCIT would provide professional engineers to meet the company's need for technical personnel to support its expansion plans.

This process would be facilitated by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), an arm of the ICT ministry set up to support the development of Egypt's ICT sector.

Investing in MEA

The meeting with Egypt's ICT Minister builds on last month's commitment by Oracle to establish an Oracle Digital Hub in Dubai which the company says will employ 400 cloud sales professionals.

These professionals will work to support the expansion of cloud services globally and as well as in the Middle East and Africa region in particular.

Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, senior vice president, Middle East and Africa, Oracle believes the Oracle Digital Hub is solid evidence of the company's commitment to the region.

"Cloud adoption is on the rise, and with an unmatched portfolio of solutions and support infrastructure, Oracle is poised to lead the region's' digital transformation movement."
