MTN Zambia and Standard Chartered have partnered to offer clients who open a digital bank account free data by leveraging the mobile operator’s customer management platform, Infinity.

According to a statement released, every client who opens a new account via the Bank’s SC Mobile App will be rewarded with 3GB data.

The companies say to secure the reward, clients must download the mobile app, open an account and fund it with ZMW150.

The statement reads, in part: “Following the successful launch of Standard Chartered’s first-ever digital bank in Zambia in 2019, additional features have been introduced onto the SC mobile app to make it even easier to open an account within 15 minutes from the convenience of one’s smartphone. “

Standard Chartered’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Christine Matambo, said: “We are delighted to partner with MTN Zambia for our digital bank offer. As you know, Standard Chartered continues to be the only bank in Zambia with the capability to open a bank account, end-to-end via smartphone. Partnerships with mobile phone operators such as MTN, Zambia’s biggest network provider, serves to enhance the client journey and experience of our digital bank.”

Commenting on the new partnership, MTN Zambia Acting General Manager, Enterprise Business, Lindiwe Banda said “At MTN Zambia we are passionate about being innovative in going above and beyond our traditional capabilities of mobile voice and data to provide value added services that will positively impact the way that companies do business. We will leverage our Infinity platform to reach millions of our customers to deliver targeted and customer specific solutions through our Campaign Management platform on Infinity which we are convinced will relate back to our mandate of delivering the benefits of a modern connected life to all people.”

Banda added: “We believe that partnerships such as this one we are forging today with Standard Chartered Bank will go a long way in bridging the digital divide and deepening financial inclusion. The partnership will enable subscribers’ access modern ways of banking as the bank is making access to the App seamless and more rewarding.”

According to the companies, over 140,000 have people have downloaded the SC Mobile App since its launch in June 2019.
