SAP Africa shines at EMEA Field Kick Off in Barcelona

This week sees SAP, global market leader in enterprise application software, hosting its EMEA 2014 Sales Kick Off meeting, FKOM (Field Kick Off Meeting) in Spain. At an awards ceremony at the conference, SAP Africa took the honours in winning the 2013 EMEA business unit award with a significant contribution towards the EMEA region’s success.

SAP FKOM is a significant gathering of SAP sales staff and partners that is hosted in key regions across the world at the beginning of every year where strategic information around software offerings, solution innovation roadmaps and Go-To-Market strategies are presented via global and EMEA executives' keynote presentations, education sessions and networking interaction.

SAP Africa was recognised at the event for several other areas of excellence, including winning the prestigious SAP EMEA Services award. SAP Services is a portfolio of services (including high value services, innovation services and engineered services), which help customers derive value from their SAP solutions in a fast, cost-effective and predictable way.

SAP Africa took third place overall in the EMEA Ecosystems and Channel category and took two first place awards for best OEM and Private Cloud (MCaaS) growth and performance. The Africa market unit was also recognised in the software 'demo jam' competition session, which saw each country from EMEA submitting a six-minute video focussing on the interesting solutions they offer. SAP Africa's rural births demo, which enables births in Africa to be registered quickly and easily via mobile phone, won the judges' favour.

Last but not least, SAP Africa customers and partners were recognised at the SAP EMEA Quality Awards ceremony. The SAP Quality Awards celebrate customers and hubs that have excelled in the planning and execution of SAP software implementations. These awards focus on companies that demonstrate real results in enabling businesses to adopt innovations quickly, showing an impact on businesses using SAP solutions in various regions and proving their ability to overcome challenges by outperforming others. African partners dominated this year's gathering with two out of the eight partner Excellence Awards being given to Africa's Britehouse and Twenty Third Century Solutions.

"Recognition for the tremendous efforts that the Africa business until has contributed to SAP is most satisfying. Clearly Africa is the last frontier and the fact that our 2013 performance was called out in the top market five results worldwide is a meaningful indication of both the opportunity and possibilities that the continent represents," said Pfungwa Serima, CEO of SAP Africa. "Year-on-year, the EMEA financial results grew 13%, an impressive result, with Africa having played no small part with a solid double-digit contribution last year." Serima added that SAP Africa was also recognised at FKOM for the sterling work that is being done in the corporate social responsibility non-profit space - most specifically to do with educating youth in the DRC and Ugandan regions.
