ITWeb Security Summit turns 10

From whistle-blowers to cyber security and digital forensics experts, the ITWeb Security Summit turns 10 with a bang in May.

The opening keynote at the 10th annual summit will be delivered by former NSA director, William Binney – kicking off an event that brings delegates international, African and local perspectives on information security.

Binney, who resigned after turning whistle-blower in 2001, spent more than 30 years working at the NSA, and has been described as one of the best analysts in its history. During his presentation, he will draw back the veil to reveal what the state-adversary looks like from the inside.

Joining him to deliver international keynotes will be Keren Elazari, a cyber security expert and analyst at Gigaom, and Roger Dingledine, head of The Tor Project. Elazari will explain how to harness the power of hackers to benefit an enterprise. Dingledine will discuss the realities of maintaining and securing a high-profile open source project and its many users against the world's most hostile and sophisticated adversaries.

Other international keynote speakers include Abdulkarim Chukkol, head of the Advance Fee Fraud and Cyber Crime Section for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Nigeria; and Yusuph Kileo, a cyber security and digital forensics investigation expert based in Dar Es Salaam, who works closely with the Tanzania Police Force.

The event will bring together international and local IT and security professionals, practitioners, industry experts and analysts to share their experiences, acquire knowledge and gain an understanding of how to protect their organisations in a rapidly evolving threat landscape.

"Delegates will get a comprehensive view of current infosec challenges globally, on the African continent and in their own backyard. Tailored tracks will focus on delivering practical, hands-on advice and solutions relevant to the issues raised in the plenary sessions," says Fay Humphries, events programme director at ITWeb. Actionable insights will be offered by the workshops and an expo featuring the latest offerings from infosec suppliers will round off the delegate experience.

The ITWeb Security Summit 2015 takes place at Vodaworld in Midrand from 26 to 28 May. Click here to find out more and register.
