Egypt: Telecom, Orange map mobile path with fresh roaming deal

Telecom Egypt has signed a five-year local roaming services agreement with Orange Egypt to strengthen coverage of mobile services, specifically voice and data-based services.

Telecom Egypt Managing Director and CEO Adel Hamed signed the agreement which is valid until the end of 2027.

For Telecom Egypt, the agreement helps to solidify its position within the North African country’s competitive mobile services market. For Orange Egypt, the industry alliance reaffirms its value proposition and part of an ongoing investment in its network.

Hamed said, “Signing this agreement confirms the depth of strategic relationship between Telecom Egypt and Orange Egypt and the two companies’ keenness to develop the system of services provided in the Egyptian telecom market. The new agreement contributes to strengthening the capacity of the company’s competitiveness with its technical, commercial and financial advantages most notably the realisation of financial servings in the provision of mobile phone services starting in 2023 and the consequent improvement in the profit margins for those services. At the same time, Telecom Egypt continues to implement its plan to expand in building its own mobile stations throughout the republic (Egypt) in order to eventually ensure that its customers receive the best level of communication services.”

Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director Orange Egypt, said the company wants to continue to invest in the development and modernisation of its network based on the latest technology available, in the global market in order to meet customer needs and continuous aspiration.

Shaker said, “The cooperation enhances the strength of the strategic relationship between the two companies and support their orientations in providing the latest telecommunications and information technology services in the Egyptian market.”
