Lyca Group restructures to drive efficiency, seeks expansion
Lyca Mobile, a British mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that operates in 23 countries, including Africa, has announced a strategic restructure aimed at trimming certain business areas and operations, improving digital capabilities, and positioning the company for long-term growth.
Lyca stated it will continue to focus on expanding its MVNO base and investing in opportunities and markets in Africa, where it now operates the Lyca MNO in Uganda, and internationally.
The corporation intends to announce its expansion into other countries as early as the first quarter of 2025.
According to a statement, the proposed transformation is part of Lyca's long-term ambition to expand its global business services and support operations into established service centres as well as new service hubs to be located in strategically important areas.
“Lyca’s strategic reorganisation is a bold step forward, ensuring we remain a leader in delivering affordable, high-quality telecom solutions to our customers globally,” said Premananthan Sivasamy, deputy chairman of Lyca Group. “This paradigm change not only enhances our efficiency but also strengthens our ability to adapt to a rapidly changing industry, ultimately benefiting our customers, partners, and employees globally.”
Furthermore, the company stated that in response to increased competition and growing costs in the telecom sector, Lyca has conducted a thorough evaluation of its operations and business areas to explore potential for development and efficiency.
