Mauritius and Mozambique plan to seek assistance from the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) to help develop local high-tech industries.
MIGHT provides strategic technology inputs for industry and government, and nurtures technology-based enterprises and entrepreneurship.
And according to the Borneo Post newspaper, the Mauritius High Commissioner to Malaysia has expressed his country’s intention to establish MIGHT-like organisation in his country.
It has further been reported that the Mozambique government has also expressed the same interest to the organisation.
Mauritius prime minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam has reportedly said he has been impressed at the MIGHT’s 20 years of experience and success Malaysia.
Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman chief executive officer of MIGHT said, “Developing countries have now realised that as they develop and grow, the government and industry have to work much closer to support the national goals.”
“Mauritius has acknowledged this notion on how the government has to work closer with private sector in order to see and experience the tangible results,” he added
According to Sulaiman since its establishment MIGHT has created opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and developed entrepreneurship in the high-technology industries.
